Vibes-based slippers

"No gods, no masters, just vibes." - the genuinely incomparable Talia Jane

Either Marta Rose or Jesse Meadows recently said something about "vibes-based making" - there was an actual thesis statement beyond the title and a bunch of other interesting stuff (I forgot a lot of what I read and now I can't find it again!) I admire both of their writings but when they both recently went on a journey of discovering the self-exploratory benefits of fibre art/sewing/crochet I was left feeling like... wait. I'm supposed to be learning from you. I already do all this?

I guess there's nothing wrong with being ahead of the game. It makes it hard to let myself be led around though.

For these slippers, I made a panel shaped sort of like this:

The flat panel is joined on the long outer seams and the back, which creates a tube at the front which can be closed. After closing, I added some rows in black to close up the opening a little and create a little sock. For measuring, I held my crochet hook up against my foot and estimated.

They're charmingly ugly, and perfectly functional.
